archiemcphee:

This awesome mechanical wooden cephalopod was created back in 2007 by phenomenal French street theatre company Royal de Luxe. Called “Le Calmar Geant a Retropropulsion” (“The Giant Squid with Reverse Thrust”), the gorgeous squid was just one of an assortment of incredible creatures created for a project entitled Les Machines de l’le de Nantes.

Words cannot express how much we’d like to ride this squid.

Contour (2013).
Acrylic on canvas.
This was based on a photograph I stumbled upon by Michele Falzone of the Antelope Canyon, USA which you can see here. I’ve always had a fascination towards canyons and other geological structures but this photograph in particular had this brilliant vibrancy,  fluidity and sensuality to it—to the lines and curves that form the rocks—so that really drew me. When I saw the picture it just reminded me of red wine; smooth, tangy and a little bit creamy—or at least that’s what red wine tastes like to me, WHATEVERSS.
The painting doesn’t really capture that tough, it feels a lot more rugged and juvenile almost. I also really need to work on colour usage. My eyes aren’t trained yet to pick up shades and the impression of colour so a lot of my pictures feel unnatural.
